The Picoscope 6000 Series PC Oscilloscopes are USB-connected and powered PC scopes with the fastest sampling, highest bandwidth, largest memory and fastest waveform update rate available.   With 4 channels and 250MHz or 1GHz bandwidth, real-time sampling at up to 5GSa/s, these instruments feature memory sizes from 256MSa up to an unrivalled 2GSa.    

Best-in-class Bandwidth, Sampling and Memory

The PicoScope 6000 Series of high-speed oscilloscopes, with up to 500 MHz analog bandwidth and a real-time sampling rate of 5GSa/s, can display challenging signals like single-shot pulses - with an amazing 200ps time resolution. Equivalent time sampling (ETS) mode even boosts the maximum sampling rate to an astonishing 50GSa/s for repetitive signals, yielding even a finer timing resolution of 20ps.

The PicoScope 6000 Series provides - as standard - the deepest buffer memory available on any oscilloscope - at any price!  And the SuperSpeed USB3.0 connection + hardware acceleration means that the resulting display is smooth and responsive, even with long data captures. But beware of competing bench-top oscilloscopes that may have high maximum sampling rates but without deep memory - they cannot sustain the quoted rates on long time-bases.  But the PicoScope 6404D’s 2Gigasample buffer can hold two 200ms captures at the maximum sampling rate of 5GSa/s. Try that on your bench-top scope!  Powerful zoom features help manage all this data. PicoScope PC software can zoom up to 100 million times with either of two zoom methods. There are zoom buttons as well as an overview window that allows you to zoom and reposition the display by simply dragging a mouse.

HAL4Hardware Acceleration Engine  

Fast Oscilloscope Waveform Update RateSome oscilloscopes struggle to fill deep memory efficiently; screen updates slow and controls become lethargic.  The PicoScope 6000 Series solves this with dedicated hardware acceleration.  A massively parallel design allows continuous capture and display of 2.5 billion samples each second. The PicoScope 6000 Series is fitted with HAL4 fourth-generation hardware acceleration. This speeds up areas of oscilloscope operation, allowing waveform update rates in excess of 170,000 waveforms per second and segmentation of memory/rapid trigger modes. The hardware acceleration engine eliminates USB connection or PC processor performance bottlenecks.   Also, PicoScope instruments can do deep memory management better than other competing oscilloscopes, be they PC-based or benchtop.

Oscilloscope Persistence ModePicoScope oscilloscopes use hardware acceleration to achieve over 170,000 wfms/s. “Sample Rate” is how frequently an oscilloscope samples the input signal within one waveform, or cycle.  The “Waveform Capture Rate” shows how quickly an oscilloscope can acquire and display a waveform. Oscilloscopes with high waveform capture rates give a better visible insight into signal behavior and dramatically increase the likelihood that the scope will capture hard-to-find transient anomalies such as jitter, runt pulses and glitches.

With PicoScope 6000 series, you no longer need to worry about missing glitches or other transient events.  The clever PicoScope software can store the last ten thousand waveforms in a circular waveform buffer, so you can review signals in great detail.  The Buffer Navigator is an efficient way of searching through waveforms, like turning back time.  Tools such as mask limit testing can also be used to look for mask violations on each waveform in the buffer.

USB connectivity

PicoScope 6000 Series oscilloscopes feature a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connection, making the already-optimized process of data transfer and waveform update rates even faster. Faster waveform storing and faster gap-free continuous streaming of over 150MSa/s are also possible when using the software development kit (SDK).  And the scope is still backward-compatible with older USB2.0 PCs.
 
Also in the Piscoscope 6000 Series is the PicoScope 6407 - a compact USB plug-in device that turns any PC into a high-speed 4-channel digitizer. The PicoScope 6407 differs from the other PC scopes in the 6000 range in that it has high-bandwidth 50ohm inputs with fixed ±100mV input ranges and SMA connectors. Larger input signals can be accommodated, however, with the use of external attenuators (see accessories).
