QT60000 family QMatrix™ QT chips sense 'glass-touch' on up to 48 keys, using passiv electrodes patterned on any PCB. The cost per key of this family is very low, and the circuit and key layouts are compatible with inexpensive single-sided PCB materials like FR-2 and CEM-1. The electrode board can be bonded to the interior of a glass or plastic panel to create 'glass touch' keys in almost any kind of product.

QMatrix keys will work through any non-conductive material, up to 5 cm thick or even more. Key sizes, shapes and placement are almost entirely arbitrary and can be mixed within a panel; the QMatrix devices will auto-calibrate all keys, even in mixed-key designs. The devices use serial communications to allow a host MCU to modify sensitivity and sensing behavior to suit almost any situation. These parts also feature patent-pending Adjacent Key Suppression (AKS™) to prevent cross-detection on closely spaced keys, and to suppress water film effects.

QMatrix devices are designed for control panels in home appliances, A/V equipment, keyboards, portable instruments, machine tools, or similar products; they permit sealed, watertight panels immune to humidity, temperature, dirt, or physical deterioration. All contain Quantum-pioneered adaptive self-calibration, drift compensation, and digital filtering to make sensing adaptable, robust, and survivable.

Unlike some other technologies, QMatrix devices do not require one IC per key. All use a 1-chip design plus a few inexpensive passive parts.
