Dear Colleague,
|
|
There
is a genuineness about the recent Thanksgiving Holiday. Friends and
family gather around and give thanks for the meal, and often use it for a
time of reflection. We at Saelig would love to personally thank our
thousands of customers, but we can't do that individually. So
please accept our sincere thanks here! We've truly appreciated your
interest in our unique electronics products this year, and we look
forward to earning your interest with new (as well as with established)
products in 2011.

USB - Connected High
Resolution 3-Axis Acceleration Sensor
|
|
The new JoyWarrior24F14
by Code Mercenaries sets a new price/performance benchmark for
USB-based acceleration sensors, with resolution down to 125ìg. JoyWarrior24F14
modules are based on a MEMS sensor with 14-bit resolution.
USB protocol allows easy use with any computer. The modules
are suitable for acceleration, tilt, and low frequency vibration
sensing, as well as for human input applications. More...

New PT-104 Data Logger
with USB and Ethernet
|
|
The new version of the PT-104 24-bit Data
Logger can record 4 channels of temperature, voltage or resistance in any
combination. It is compatible with standard, low-cost PT100 and PT1000
platinum resistance thermometers (PRTs) including 2-wire, 3-wire and
4-wire types. By using calibrated reference resistors instead of
semiconductor voltage references in its measuring circuits, the PT-104 is less
susceptible to temperature drift, and delivers high stability and
accuracy at a surprisingly low cost. PT-104's
temperature measuring range is -200 to +800 degrees Celsius, with an
accuracy of 0.01 °C and a resolution of 0.001 °C. More...

New
4000 Series with IEPE Support
|
Some of the best product ideas come
from feedback from customers, and the new PicoScope 4224 IEPE is no
exception. This new scope was produced for a specific customer who wanted
to use the scope to monitor vibration waveforms using accelerometers out
in the field. Accelerometers can be highly sensitive so a scope was
needed with high voltage resolution to capture even the smallest
incremental change. The only thing missing was a constant current source
to provide power to the accelerometer. PicoScope 4224 is the ideal host
for a new variant suited to electro-mechanical sensor applications.
Adopting the IEPE interface standard for sensor power on both channels,
the new PicoScope
4224 IEPE was born. The IEPE (Integrated Electronic Piezo
Electric) interface standard IEEE 1451.4 is most commonly used to power
accelerometers, but there are many other sensor types which use this
interface such as microphones, impulse hammers, acoustic, force and
pressure sensors to name but a few. More information on the IEPE
standards here. Saelig
also sells a general purpose accelerometer (TA095) and a
mounting magnet (TA096). More...

Automotive
Diagnostics
|
Whether you are an enthusiast, weekend
mechanic, automotive technician or vehicle manufacturer, our vehicle
diagnostics equipment will help you to save time and money. Pico's
award-winning automotive oscilloscopes work with any cycle, car or truck
and make it easier - and faster - for you to find faults. With the
increasing number of sensors, actuators and electronic circuits found on
today's vehicles, an automotive oscilloscope is the one tool that will
make it faster and easier for you to diagnose vehicle faults. Available
in both 2 and 4-channel versions, PicoScope
4000 scopes can be purchased individually, or as part of
an Automotive Diagnostics Kit. These simple-to-use kits contain
everything you need to turn your PC into a powerful automotive diagnostic
tool, and can decode many serial buses, including CAN bus, LIN bus and
the new FlexRay standards. More...

Cleverscope
and MatLab
|
Software for Cleverscope mixed-signal
scopes now includes 4 processes that can be used to call external Matlab
M-file functions, considerably extending the capabilities of
Cleverscope in analyzing waveforms. Cleverscope assumes the
existence of 4 Matlab functions used for interface. These functions can
in turn call other Matlab functions, including user interface activity,
if needed. The 4 functions are selected in the Math equation
builder. There is more information in "Using Matlab with
Cleverscope" on Cleverscope's Resources page.. More...

Electronica
2010
|
|
I recently returned from the Electronica show in
Munich (they know how to do shows in Germany!) and caught up with news
and upcoming products from many of our suppliers.
At the show, I met with
staff from:
- Rigol has
quite a few exciting new products to be released in the coming
months
- Owon is
really pleased with Saelig's scope sales
- Pico's
automotive scope sales grew substantially last year, including sales
to some large Japanese car manufacturers, and a
Californian electric sports car maker.
- Aaronia has an
exciting new realtime handheld analyzer coming out soon, and a large
wideband Yagi antenna for field testing; they also have some new
laser-aimed antennas - more details soon.
- Aim-TTi showed
their high quality analyzers, DMMs, counters and power
supplies.
- Lorlin exhibited
their specialty switches which can be customized in volumes as low
as 100 pcs.
- Euroquartz has found
increasing interest in their military-grade oscillators.
- Adeunis' new Twimo
line is consistent form-factor/size for all wireless modes.
- Lascar was
creating interest with their customizable PanelPilot panel
meters.
- LS Mtron exhibited
their state-of-the-art ultracapacitors, used widely in electric
transportation systems.
- WIZnet was there,
too, with their popular hardwired TCP/IP products.
- Code Mercenaries showed
their high-resolution 3-Axis Acceleration Sensor and new LED
lighting products
- Siglent's oscilloscopes
were creating interest with high quality and great prices.
I also met with staff from Janz
( CANbus-based controllers), CleverScope
(mixed-signal scopes - more later below) and talked with ZeroPlus about
their economical logic analyzers. I also discovered a small new Swedish
firm that designs custom antennas - more details soon!
