World's First USB3.0 Oscilloscope
|
|
Pico Technology
has announced the release of the world's first USB3.0 oscilloscope.
While the PicoScope
3207A and PicoScope
3207B are additions to the existing PicoScope 3000
2-channel scope range, they have some very significant improvements.
The two new scopes feature the highest bandwidth, highest buffer
memory and equal the highest sample rate of any USB powered PC Oscilloscope
to date, but they also feature USB3.0 connectivity and power offering a
tenfold
increase in theoretical transfer speeds compared to
2.0. Each product includes the PicoScope hardware, 2 x 250
MHz tuned probes, PicoScope software, a USB 3.0 cable, and a
USB 2.0 double-head cable.
Here are the key specifications for these new
models:

Tiny
4GHz Synthesized RF Signal Generator
|
|

The TEG4000-1 is a
laboratory quality, synthesized 200 to 4000MHz RF signal source - the
smallest USB microwave synthesized source available and is priced
significantly below other competitive bench-top offerings. This handy RF
source can be swept in step sizes as low as 1kHz between any two
frequencies in its specified range.
The TEG4000-1 offers
+1dBm output from its SMA connector, and is controlled and set via the
supplied PC software. Its easy-to-use graphical interface offers both
numeric entry or slider controls. A significant feature of the device is
that it can be preset to output a specific frequency when PC-connected.
In the field, it then becomes a high quality preset frequency source when
5V is applied to its USB connector, without needing a PC
connection. More ...

New 5 MHz to 30 GHz Phase Noise
Tester APPH30G
|
|

The
APPH30G is a high-performance cross-correlation phase
noise test system for 5 MHz to 30 GHz frequencies. The APPH30G provides
fast and accurate measurements of single sideband residual and additive
phase noise, amplitude noise, and baseband noise. The APPH30G is a
fully self-contained instrument with cross-correlator engine and internal
low noise reference sources to enable fast and accurate
"one-click" measurements up to 30 GHz. Using proven
cross-correlation measurement procedures and self-calibration
routines, accurate reproducible measurements are obtained even under
changing environmental conditions. Fully automated frequency
acquisition and self-calibration greatly simplify use and applicability
of the instrument, resulting in much faster measurement throughput and
greater ease-of-use in operation. More ...

Website Shows How to Record Gigabytes of Trace Data
|
Byte Paradigm's
new website shows how their USB Fast I/O products let you record
gigabytes of trace data, visualize them at bit level, decode I²C and SPI
serial protocols, and probe embedded systems with their data logger/logic
analyzers. You can communicate with embedded systems directly from a PC,
access SPI, Quad-SPI or define your own custom serial protocol with BP's
range of serial host adapters. Explore stimulus-and-response test
scenarios, and exercise the inputs of your digital IC or board - all you
need is a PC and BP's digital pattern generators to speed up your embedded
system verification. Check it out - visit www.byteparadigm.com

Sensor
Solution for Monitoring Driver Fatigue
|
|
Plessey
has introduced a novel solution for monitoring driver fatigue that
is based on their multi-award winning EPIC sensor technology. An array of
EPIC electric potential sensors can be built into a vehicle seat back,
with an optimal sensing location chosen to eliminate differences in the
operators' height and build. Electrical artifact noise caused by movement
is minimized by placing the sensors on the lower part of the seat back,
away from the shoulders. The system uses a capacitive
"driven-ground-signal" plane, placed under the seat cover fabric
on the base of the seat, to form a system completely hidden from the car
occupant. Additional noise reduction can be achieved by coupling this
"driven-ground-signal" to the steering wheel. The system has
been demonstrated to be immune to electrical noise sources within the
vehicle, detecting > 95% of heart beat peaks over a variety of driving
conditions. More...

World's First
Android-based Portable Spectrometer
|
|

The GL
SPECTIS 1.0 Touch Mini spectrometer is a reliable,
precise, and intuitive handheld device for a wide range of spectral light
measurement needs that offers the same accuracy and performance in a tiny
device as expensive benchtop units. The GL Spectis 1.0 Touch Mini allows
dependable light measurements to be made with an extremely portable
device, yielding results that are just as accurate as large sophisticated
spectrophotometers. The Android-based GL Spectis 1.0 Touch Mini is easy
to navigate and comes pre-configured, and individually calibrated for
fast, reliable results. Announced as the world's first smart,
touch-enabled portable spectrometer, the GL SPECTIS 1.0 Touch Mini includes
WiFi, Bluetooth, USB, and SD card interfaces in a handheld unit that operates
for up to 6 hours on a battery charge. More...

Impact-E 150 Embedded PC
|
|

Amplicon's
Impact-E 150 is the latest addition to the compact industrial
embedded PC series, providing high performance with minimal power
consumption and weighing less than 4 lbs.
The
Impact-E 150 is powered by Intel's D2550 ATOM™
processor and supports up to 4GB memory, with a typical power draw of
only 12W even when supporting dual displays. The power efficiency of the
Impact-E 150 means the unit can use either a battery or solar panel for
use in remote installations where line power is not available. This
compact system allows for expansion of an additional solid-state or
mechanical hard drive, as well as optional Wi-Fi and cellular modules.
This embedded PC system is well suited to applications in multiple
markets such as Transportation, Security and Automation, and is ideally
suited for installations where space is at a premium.
