Dear Colleague,
|
|
Spring has finally sprung, and with it commenced some
visits here from some of our European suppliers. During April, three
directors from LPRS (low-power radio modules) came to share some
exciting information about a new low-power easy-to-use wireless module
for M2M and short-medium distance data transfer applications - nicknamed
"eRIC". It's not due to be released until this
summer - but you can get hints about it now on LPRS' website.
Also in April, several of our suppliers were exhibiting at
DesignWest in San Jose, including Byte Paradigm, Pico Technology, Atmel, and Plessey Semiconductors; and quite a few of the
exhibitors are our customers too! We are evaluating products from
one new overseas supplier I met at the show - more news next month if
they pass our rigorous product test qualifications. Meanwhile, here is
our latest news that can benefit your work:

printing line-up and to show our excitement, we're offering a free
spool of Glow Blue ABS filament in addition to the included white
spool! This is a self-contained unit that provides an "immediate
availability" 3D prototyping experience. Winner of the MAKE
Magazine "Ultimate
Guide to 3D Printing - Best Overall Experience", the
H479 3D Printer comes fully assembled, with easy to install software
for both the PC and
Mac.
It prototypes plastic parts up to 5 inches cubed, accurate
to within .2mm (.008") - straight out of the box! A heated

eRA Connect2 Pi USB Wireless Link
|
|

Though named for the Raspberry Pi ultra-affordable
computer board, customers are discovering that this USB-serial wireless
data-bridge can be used in any USB port. Using LPRS' proprietary
easyRadio technology operating in the 915MHz band, the Connect2Pi USB wireless 'dongle' provides a
simple 'wireless bridge' between any device that supports USB serial
communications - including two Raspberry Pi modules (Pi2Pi) or a
Raspberry Pi and a PC. This easyRadio- based USB device provides
considerably greater range and consumes less power than similar Wi-Fi
or Bluetooth dongles operating in the overcrowded 2.4GHz bands.
Frequency, bandwidth, power output and data rate can (optionally) be
configured to allow multiple devices to communicate free from
interference from each other and any other ISM band devices. More ...

QPX1200SP PowerFlex LXI 1200W Benchtop Power Supply
|
|

The QPX1200SP
PSU is a 1200 watt bench-top laboratory power supply that
gives variable voltage and current combinations within a maximum power
range. PowerFlex regulation is AIM-TTi's unique design for meeting the
need for flexibility in the choice of voltage and current: it offers
built-in voltage and current combinations for a very wide range of
applications between 60V/20A and 20V/50A. The QPX1200SP PSU includes a
linear output stage within its PowerFlex regulator, which gives it a very
low output noise of less than 3 mV, and a transient recovery time
typically ten times better than conventional switch mode units. The
QPX1200SP is fully digitally controlled using instrumentation-quality 16
bit DACs. Front-panel adjustment is by numeric keypad or spin wheel, and
remote control interfaces of analog, RS-232, USB and LAN (Ethernet) are
included. The LAN interface conforms with the familiar LXI standard, with
a GPIB interface optionally available. Unlike most higher-power
laboratory power units, the QPX1200SP is equally suited to bench or
rack-mount applications since output and sense terminals are provided on
both the front and the rear panels. The case has convenient integral tilt
feet for benchtop convenience, but a 3U rack mount is also available. Up
to 10 power set-ups can be saved and recalled via the keyboard or remote
interfaces. The built-in power limiter features over-voltage,
over-current, and temperature trips. More ...

|
|

We recently added selected products from Velleman - a well-respected Belgian producer of
handheld, compact instrumentation - which offer great value for money.
The compact HPG1 1MHz Pocket Function Generator was the product

Software Updates
|
|

Pico Technology is offering a new "Signal Generator
Triggers" feature in the R6.7.17 beta release of their PicoScope
software. This is a significant upgrade to the operation of Pico
oscilloscopes, and lets you start and stop the signal generator under the
control of an external signal. The signal can be the oscilloscope's main
trigger, an EXT input (if available) or even a mouse click. The number of
cycles produced after each trigger is configurable from 1 to over 1
billion. Signal Generator Triggers are supported by most PicoScope
oscilloscopes containing a signal generator. A free download is now available for all PicoScope owners.
Watch this video to find out what this new release can do for
you.
