Saelig Introduces Economical 0.65 - 20GHz Fast-Switching Synthesizer

 - compact, high stability frequency source with modulation capabilities

Fairport, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced the APSYN420B - an economical, wideband, fast-switching, low phase-noise 0.65GHz to 20 GHz frequency synthesizer with a remarkable resolution of 0.001Hz and phase resolution of 0.1deg, providing a nominal output power of +13 dBm into 50 ohms. The module features a high-stability internal reference which can be phase-locked to a user-configurable external reference or used in a master-slave configuration for highest phase coherence.  The APSYN420B offers USB and LAN interfaces and can be controlled using an SCPI 1999 command set.

Key Features of the APSYN420B include very low phase noise, fast switching (settling time typically 20uS with a frequency update rate of 200uS), low phase noise, and an internal OCXO reference that can be configured for highest phase coherence between multiple sources. Powered from an external 6V DC supply, it consumes less than 10 watts.

Remote programming interfaces include: Ethernet 100BaseT LAN interface or USB 2.0 host & device, The APSYN420B’s functionality can be externally adjusted using SCPI Version 1999.0 control language, and it can be triggered by an external signal or from LAN or USB interface.  Modulation capabilities include angle, pulse, pulse trains and pulsed chirps.  Linear, logarithmic, or random frequency sweeps can be performed with combined modulation running.  Frequency Chirps (linear ramp, up/down) can also be accomplished.  The APSYN420B can accept any external reference signals from 1MHz to 250MHz.

The APSYN420B is designed for an operating temperature range from 0 to 45 °C and weighs less than 2lbs in a compact  8.3” x 4.2” x 2.4” housing.

Applications for the APSYN420B include: ATE, local frequency converter source, satellite and other telecommunications needs, etc.

Swiss-made by AnaPico AG, a leading-edge designer of RF sources and sampling systems, the APSYN420B is available now from AnaPico’s USA distributor Saelig Company, Inc.
