Debuts Tiny ChipworkX Module Running .NET Micro Framework
200MHz ARM9 board for
Microsoft Visual Studio and C# Applications
Pittsford, NY, USA: Saelig Company, Inc. (Saelig) (www.saelig.com) has announced the availability of ChipworkX™, a tiny embedded board which implements Microsoft .NET Micro Framework on a small (67.6 x47mm) 200-pin DIMM form-factor, and featuring a high-performance ARM9 processor. ChipworkX™ is an AT91SAM9261S 200MHz ARM9 32-bit single board computer running .NET, enabling developers to create embedded applications with Microsoft Visual Studio and C#.
ChipworkX™ supports a complete set of .NET Micro Framework features, such as FAT, USB devices, and many more. In addition, it supports many other exclusive GHI features, such as USB host, PPP, GPRS, 3G, etc. With ChipworkX, developers can access files on SD/MMC cards and USB memory devices, such as Thumb Drives and Hard Disks. Also, the USB host stack can access other devices like mice, keyboards, joysticks, printers, USB modems and more. ChipworkX supports SQLite database, allowing fast logging and retrieving of standard SQL queries. Users can also load their own compiled native code (C or assembly) and run directly via managed Micro Framework (like DLLs on PCs).
The ChipworkX module includes an LCD controller, Ethernet connection with TCP/IP Stack, SSL, USB Device, USB Host with 2 ports, 80 GPIO Pins with interrupt capabilities, Real Time Clock, 2 SPI (8/16bit), I2C, 3 UART, 1 PWM, One-wire interface, and operates in a 0 to +70ºC environment with 7 – 30V 1A DC supply, with standard 64MB of SDRAM. This is more than enough for applications using .NET Micro Framework and SideShow. Also, a 1MB region is reserved for developers native executables data, that includes the Runtime Loadable Procedures. ChipworkX adds many exclusive features to the .NET Micro Framework, such as embedded USB host stack (mice, keyboards, joysticks, printers, USB modems and more), PPP networking, hardware access and many more. ChipworkX supports SQLite database which is very useful for logging and retrieving data using SQL standard queries. An optional Starter Development System for ChipworkX gives instant access to all peripherals and includes 480 x 272 4.3" display with touch screen, allowing fast time-to-market for embedded projects.
Available applications include embedded designs for real time and fast processing requirements (using Runtime Loadable Procedure), handheld inventory collection (using database feature), measuring equipment, network devices, medical instrumentation, smart appliances, smart home control, office equipment, motion tracking, image processing, hand-held touch-screen products, check-in, point of sale, kiosks, Windows SideShow devices.
