Saelig Announces 20 GHz Bandwidth PC Oscilloscopes

Precise timebase stability and accuracy with 64 fs resolution for testing high-speed repetitive signals

Fairport, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. ( has introduced PicoScope 9300 Oscilloscopes, which use sequential sampling technology to measure fast repetitive signals without the need for expensive real-time sampling hardware.  With an input bandwidth of up to 20 GHz, acquisition of signals with rise times of up to 17.5 ps is now possible with this sampling adapter which attaches to a standard PC.  Precise time-base stability and accuracy and a resolution of 64 fs allow accurate jitter characterizations.  With over 15 TSa/s effective sampling rate, 17.5 ps input rise time, and dual 16-bit, 60 dB dynamic range inputs, PicoScope 9300 Sampling Oscilloscopes are ideal for many advanced applications including signal analysis, timing analysis, testing and design of high–speed digital communication systems, network analysis, semiconductor testing, and research and development.

The 5 ps/div dual timebase with a time interval resolution of 64 fs enables the PicoScope 9300 scopes to build waveforms and persistence displays at the remarkable rate of 1 MHz, the industry’s fastest.  Signal quality is just as notable, with typical noise of 1.5 mV RMS at full bandwidth, external trigger jitter of 1.8 ps RMS, and recovered clock jitter of only 1 ps RMS. A built–in high–frequency trigger with frequency divider, facilitates measurements of microwave or other high speed components with extremely fast data rates.

The 9300 scopes’ built–in direct trigger is designed for signals up to 2.5 GHz repetition rate, and a clock–recovery trigger input accommodates serial data from 6.5 Mb/s  to 11.3 Gb/s. Specification highlights include: over 15 TSa/s effective sampling rate, 17.5 ps input rise time, dual 16-bit, 60 dB dynamic range inputs, 5 ps/div dual timebase, 14 GHz pre-scaled trigger bandwidth, clock recovery up to 11.3 Gb/s and time interval resolution of 64 fs.

The PicoScope 9300 Series Sampling Oscilloscopes can perform pre-compliance tests, fault-finding, design, debug and margin testing on serial communications signals such as 10 Gb Ethernet, SONET/SDH STM64 and FEC1071, 10x Fibre Channel, and InfiniBand and PCI Express.  These two-channel oscilloscopes can replace traditional, full-sized bench-top instruments without compromising usability, analysis features, or accuracy. PicoScope 9300 Series compact, full-featured PC-based sequential sampling oscilloscopes offer a unique combination of portability, price and performance. Their small size allows positioning very close to a device under test, minimizing cable losses and removing the need for expensive active probes or pull-out sampling modules.  A useful built-in signal generator is provided, with 4 ns minimum bit interval in PRBS mode and 8 ns minimum period in pulse mode. The PicoScope 9300 Series Oscilloscopes have LAN and USB interfaces, and advanced display features such as color and density profiling, multiple trace windows, histograms and statistics.

The free PicoSample software includes a comprehensive suite of measurement and analysis functions: 61 math functions, 138 automatic measurements and 167 standard comms masks from 1.54 Mb/s to 12.5 Gb/s.

Designed and made by Europe’s leading PC scope manufacturer, award-winning Pico Technology, the PicoScope 9300 Series Sampling Oscilloscopes are available now from Pico’s USA distributor Saelig Company, Inc. from around $15,000.
