Product Press Release
Pittsford, NY: RTG005™ is a new, self-contained ready-to-go FPGA system with CameraLink connection. This makes an ideal starter kit for developing image processing systems. RTG005™ features an embedded PowerPC processor and user-programmable Xilinx XC4VFX12 FPGA to quickly enable a combination of VHDL-programmed hardware processing and C-software processing. 128MB DDR memory can be used for code storage and frame storage, while VHDL support allows access to DDR memory from the Embedded PowerPC as well as your VHDL design simultaneously.
Examples provided include an FPGA design that performs a number of standard imaging functions in VHDL on a live monochrome image stream. Processed images are sent via USB2.0 connection to the PC’s C software for display. Source code is provided so this can form a quick-start for image processing development.
RTG005™ can be used stand-alone or connected to a PC via USB 2.0, sending raw or processed images to the PC for storage or display. Alternatively, control information can be sent to the system to allow user control, etc. USB FIFO connection allows up to 50Mbytes/second in each direction, but the Host PC, its USB controller and the operating system will all impose their own limits to this speed. Win2000/XP/Linux support allows software applications and tools on the Host PC to access RTG005™ using a consistent software interface without the need to understand or program hardware or USB directly.
