Simple Audio Function Generator Software
Pittsford, NY. How often have you needed a signal generator in the field but forgot to bring one? How about running out of budget, but urgently need an audio test signal? Here’s the answer – and it’s only $25!
SFG is a simple Windows program that implements a flexible function generator using the sound output of any PC. Running under most Windows variants (95, 98, 2000, NT, XP,..) and some Linux and Macintosh systems. SFG generates sine, square, sawtooth, pulse and triangle wave signals from 1 Hz to 20 kHz, as well as white noise and pink noise.
It’s as easy as downloading the program from www.saelig.com/sfg.htm, clicking the filename and save the software to disk. Then run it. No installation is required. The stereo signal will appear at the output of your Soundblaster™ card.
You can use it testing your sound system or an electronics project – or just for fun! It works also with most portables and multimedia computers.
At last – a use for that old PC stored in the corner!
