Combining the capabilities of both multiplexer and matrix switching topologies the Multiplexed Matrix Switch (MMS) increases ABI's SYSTEM 8 usefulness and efficiency. It provides the ability to route signals for various design verification and data acquisition applications, run automated functional tests on components and PCBs, measure and compare signals from up to 64 points on a circuit, as well as making more efficient use of cables, clips and probes. And all this is available without the need for programming - and for a much lower cost than traditional ATE, PXI or LXI instrumentation. The MMS is a 16x16 matrix (256 cross points) for connecting any channel to any channel, with up to 16 unique paths. It is a multiplexer/demultiplexer with a very flexible architecture e.g. 1 to 64, 2 to 32 … 16 to 4 or any combination in-between. It provides signal routing from DC to 60MHz through standard IDC connectors, and can switch signals up to 100V or 1A with a 10W limit. It is also expandable, with multiple systems capable of working together to increase testing possibilities.
For low-volume operations, the SYSTEM 8 Multiplexed Matrix Switch combined with the SYSTEM 8 PCB tester, allows many sequential tests to be performed on a Board Under Test without the need for constant plugging/unplugging cables, drastically reducing both test set up time and execution. Further flexibility and convenience can be added by using the SYSTEM 8 SmartSwitch to navigate through a customized software test sequence.
