The I2C bus (or IIC: Inter-integrated-circuit bus) is a multi-master serial computer bus invented by Philips, which is used to attach low-speed peripheral devices to a motherboard, embedded system or similar applications.  I2C uses only two bi-directional open-drain lines: Serial Data (SDA) and Serial Clock (SCL), generally pulled-up with resistors.  Typical voltages used are +5V or +3.3V, but other voltages can be used.  The most common bus speeds are 10kb/s (low-speed mode). 100kb/s (standard mode) and 400 kb/s (fast mode).  I2C is a synchronous transmission type, and the signal content includes 'Start', 'Address', 'Command', 'Data', 'Read/Write', 'ACK/NACK', and 'Stop'.

I2C Analysis Function: with the decoding protocol analyzer inoperative, the acquired signal looks similar to what may be seen with an oscilloscope.  With the protocol analyzer function enabled, the system becomes an automatic decoding device.  The analyzer can be configured to optimize the decoding function, including data length, font coding mode, etc.
