Pittsford, NY, USA: Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced HM572N, a new series of low EMI oscillators that are drop-in replacements for standard clock oscillators. The new low EMI oscillator range brings a low-cost solution for expensive EMI problems by approaching the problem at the source – the system clock oscillator. HM572N series oscillators use spread spectrum (dithered) techniques to reduce EMI emissions from the oscillator by 8 to 15dB.
In most electronic systems, the principal cause of EMI is the system clock, so making reductions at the source rather than patch-up fixes (e.g. ferrite beads, ground planes, metal shielding or costly additions) makes a lot of sense. Spread spectrum technology moves the center-point energy over a wider bandwidth and, since the low frequency spread technique is in the kHz region, the process is transparent to the oscillator’s primary operating frequency.
HM572N series oscillators are housed in standard 7 x 5 x 1.4mm surface mount packages and can instantly replace standard oscillators on the same PCB footprint, providing the shortest and lowest-cost route to solve EMI problems. The available frequency range is from 8 to 128MHz, and specifications include a choice of spread type and modulation depth. The modulation carrier frequency varies from 31.25kHz minimum to 62.5kHz maximum dependent upon operating frequency and specification required. Frequency stability is from ±25ppm to ±100ppm over both commercial (0 to 70°C) and industrial (-40 to +85°C) temperature ranges.
HM572N series oscillators are RoHS compliant and are ideal for a wide range of equipment, including printers and multi-function devices, digital copiers, networking, LAN/WAN, routers, computer storage systems (CD-ROM, VCD, DVD, HDD), scanners, modems, projectors, embedded systems, musical instruments, automotive electronics, GPS car navigation systems, PC monitors and TVs, ADSL, PCMCIA equipment, digital cameras, and medical devices.
Made by European frequency product specialists Euroquartz, HM572N series oscillators are available now from Saelig Company. Inc.
