Saelig Introduces Economical 9-Channel Logic Analyzer
versatile, easy-use logic tool with multiple interface capabilities can directly capture differential bus activity

Fairport, NY, USA:  Saelig Company, Inc. (www.saelig.com) has introduced the ScanaPLUS Logic Analyzer - a robust, versatile and multi-application 9-channel logic analyzer. The ScanaPLUS inputs can be configured to use two integral differential receivers for direct connection to balanced buses like CAN or RS485, with an additional five receivers for RS232 or LIN bus serial busses. All inputs are over-voltage protected to ± 50V - allowing risk-free operation where 12V or 24V lines are present - but are sensitive enough to faithfully observe 1.2V logic signals at 100MSa/s. The ScanaPLUS unique design uses a proprietary FPGA-based compression and streaming algorithm that allows fast streaming of samples from device to PC, avoiding the compromising limitations of USB2.0 bandwidth.  Having nine digital input channels allows investigation of 8-bit buses, with a ninth channel available for a synchronization signal.

The ScanaStudio cross-platform software provided with the ScanaPLUS Logic Analyzer operates on PCs running Windows XP, Vista, and 7 (32/64 bit) or Linux/Ubuntu (32/64 bit) operating systems. It enables capturing and decoding multiple serial protocols, including UART, SPI, I2C, 1-wire, CAN, LIN 1.x & LIN2.x, Manchester, etc. and also features a custom protocol decoder-writing feature.

As well as being able to directly connect the ScanaPLUS Logic Analyzer to many types of industrial and automobile buses, such as RS485, CAN, LIN, and RS232, it uniquely allows capturing 1.8 v signals on some pins, while capturing 5V signals on others by allowing two different logic group thresholds to be defined: 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.8V, 3.3V or 5V, with a built-in, time-saving Line Activity LED showing bus activity at the analyzer.

Sophisticated Trigger options are included (rising edge, falling edge, logic level, pulse width, multi-channel) as well as pre- and post-triggering: for instance, with the trigger position track-bar set at the center, half of the capture length will be dedicated to pre-trigger data and half to post-trigger.

The ScanaPLUS Logic Analyzer relies on a proprietary Xilinx FPGA-based compression and streaming algorithm that can capture signals for as long as the host PC can take them. Most logic analyzers that stream data over USB suffer from USB bandwidth limitations (about 20MB/s), while the ScanaPLUS’ compression algorithm streams the sampled signals over USB with less than 3 Mbytes of USB bandwidth.

Made by Ikalogic, a growing European embedded test equipment manufacturer, the ScanaPLUS Logic Analyzer is small (2.87” x 1.81” x 0.67”) and very lightweight (2oz.) and is available now with top quality color-coded EZ-Hook probes and USB cable from Saelig Company, Inc. Fairport, NY.
