The TA189 from Pico Technology is a high-precision 30 ampere current probe for situations requiring non-invasive current measurements. It uses closed-loop Hall Effect measurement technology to sense either AC or DC currents with high accuracy. It is ideal for monitoring current leaks, battery discharge, or, when used with an active differential voltage probe such as the TA041, it can be used for line power quality analysis. Clamp-on current probes like the TA189 are also known as Current Clamps and they can measure current flowing in wires without breaking the circuit. Current clamp jaws open with a “trigger” for placing around a conductor, and then close to form a complete magnetic loop around the conductor. This makes for a safe, cost-effective, and accurate way to make current measurements up to 30 amps.
