JRKerr is now Saelig-Kerr For many years, JRKerr has been known for producing high quality DC servo motor controllers, DC stepper motor controllers, controllers for brushed or brushless motors, solutions for multi-axis motion control applications, and DC motor controls for industrial motors. In fact, JEFFREY KERR, LLC has manufactured easy-to-use PIC-based motion control boards and ICs for the last 22 years, with Saelig being their primary stocking distributor for the past 12 years. Since January 2018, Saelig Company Inc. has taken over the manufacture of these parts, ensuring their long-term availability, fast stock access, and careful quality control with 100% inspection. The JRKerr PIC-SERVO, PIC-STEP and PIC-I/O motion control product line are now Saelig-Kerr PIC-SERVO, PIC-STEP and PIC-I/O motion control products, exclusively made by Saelig Company Inc. JRKerr and Saelig have worked closely on the sale and support of these products, and the product line continues unchanged under the Saelig-Kerr banner. Furthermore, Jeff Kerr, the original designer of this product line, continues to provide product technical support just as he has done for the last 22 years. These easy-to-use preprogrammed PIC-based motion control ICs and boards are ideal for many stepper and servo applications. Our brush, brushless and stepper motor control modules all integrate high level motion control functions and power amplifiers into a single board. Each board gives you everything you need to control your motor from a PC or other host controller. You have two basic options for implementing your motion control application: 1) Use a PC or other host to send commands directly to the motion controllers, or 2) Use our SSA-485 adapter board as a stand-alone controller. All of our controllers can communicate with a host computer (PC, PLC, embedded processor, etc.) using full-duplex (4-wire) RS485 serial communications. Up to 32 control modules (PIC-SERVO, PIC-STEP, or PIC-I/O) can be connected to a single serial port. Host controllers with a standard RS232 port or USB port can use our SSA-485 Smart Serial Adapter. Alternately, our controllers can be operated in a stand-alone mode with our SSA-485 Smart Serial Adapter with our optional Motion Basic controller chip installed. You can create simple BASIC programs using our Windows based Motion Basic programming application and then download the program to the SSA-485 / Motion Basic controller. At the core of each of our motion control modules is a controller chip which communicates using our NMC (Networked Modular Control) communications protocol. For high volume production, applications developed using our standard NMC controller boards can be easily ported to custom boards designed to use these same controllers.
