BoardMaster is a universal PCB test and diagnostic solution, customized to the electronics maintenance demands of each customer. BoardMaster is the least costly among all Automated Test Systems (ATS), but rivals or exceeds them in performance and is easier to learn and use.
The ABI BoardMaster Universal Diagnostic System is a uniquely versatile, self-contained and easy-to-use test system for PCB quality control and for quickly diagnosing failures. It offers a selectable comprehensive set of test instruments for fault-finding on almost any kind of PCB. As the product of choice to companies operating in rail transport, aerospace, military, automotive, telecoms and a range of other industrial sectors, the BoardMaster is ABI's solution that saves customers time and money, increases asset availability and reliability and can be used by personnel with limited training. With the full range of instruments and a variety of test methods guaranteeing the best possible fault coverage, the BoardMaster 19" Rack provides the ultimate in diagnostic tools.
The BoardMaster system comes complete with ABI's multi-license and user friendly SYSTEM 8 Ultimate Software preinstalled and a custom selection of System 8 modules to suit a customers needs. Modules include: Advanced Matrix Scanner, Board Fault Locator, Multiple Instrument Station, Triple Output Variable Power Supply, Analog IC Tester, Multiplexed Matrix Switch, etc.
Guaranteed FREE software updates are provided for life and there is also no additional charge for additional seats or maintenance fees. The powerful yet easy-to-use software includes user access management, ABI's exclusive TestFlow Manager as well as a wealth of customization options. Contact our sales team for more information.
Applications include: PCB testing and troubleshooting, digital/analog IC test, digital/analog V-I test, visual short identification with audible/visual indication of probe distance to short, live board comparison, manufacturing defects analysis, power-on/power-off testing, QA reporting, embedded real-time control, calculation and logging, component and board level testing, digital and analog functional tests , automated test sequences, etc.
Although we often use the term BoardMaster as if it were a standard, off-the-shelf product, the only standard characteristic of a BoardMaster is that it includes at least four of the six System 8 test modules. Every BoardMaster is unique, customized to each client's scope of work.
While some BoardMasters may contain the same combination of System 8 modules, the housings and/or the accompanying selection of accessories will be different. Some housings include a PC, some do not. The Boardmaster 8000 Plus housing is the only one that contains a PC and a display in the same housing with the selected System 8 modules. Youll see most of the available housings pictured on this page.
The tables below are provided to show just a few of the many ways a BoardMaster can be configured. One of these examples may the starting point for a custom configuration, but will never be a complete solution.
Some test and diagnostic requirements may be handled with less than four modules. While the result is not a BoardMaster, we have 1, 2 and 3-bay cases and we can provide an ABI solution with just one, two or three modules. Please see the System 8 page (link) for detailed descriptions of the multiple test functions of each System 8 module.

Each module includes its own set of cables and clips. Some modules include probes and other accessories. |
All of these example configurations include System 8 software and the System 8 Automatic Out-of-Circuit Adapter. |
P/N 64000A Recommended Accessory Pack is often suggested. It includes a selection of frequently used probes, clips and cables. |
Although the 19" 6-Bay RM case can be rack mounted, it's always used on the bench. Many Boardmaster operators prefer |
this case because it's compact, easier to move around, and requires only the addition of a display. |
