Like a benchtop oscilloscope, only smaller and better.

    Powerful, portable, and versatile

Looking for a USB scope? Pico Technology’s 2204A USB oscilloscope is the best low-cost PC-scope.  The PicoScope 2204A is a 2-channel PC-based oscilloscope (PP906 supplied with two probes) - a compact, passport-sized alternative to big benchtop instruments.  Now you can have a 10 MHz, 100MS/s instrument that fits in your laptop bag! Perfect for engineers’ traveling toolkits, they are also suited to a wide range of benchtop needs including design, test, education, service, monitoring, fault finding, and repair.

PicoScope 6 software is supplied free with the unit. It offers high-end features like serial decoding and mask limit testing included free as standard – not an optional extra like other manufacturers. New functions are regularly added too in the free upgrades, optimized with the help of feedback.

The PicoScope 2204A is made in Europe by Pico Technology, a UK-based manufacturer of high-precision PC-based oscilloscopes and automotive diagnostics equipment.  Founded in 1991, their PicoScope models now all include an integrated function generator or arbitrary waveform generator, sophisticated triggering, automatic measurements with statistics, a Fast Fourier transform spectrum analysis mode, waveform math calculations, mask limit testing, and serial decoding for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, LIN, and FlexRay.

The PicoScope PC software supplied free with every oscilloscope from Pico Technology allows real-time signal acquisition and display using any of Pico Technology’s oscilloscopes. It is supported on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Debian and Ubuntu platforms.  PicoScope allows you to view and analyze real-time signals.  Also included is FFT capability to create a spectrum analyzer, voltage-based triggers, and the ability to save/load waveforms to disk.  The software is ideal for use with either desktop or laptop PCs. Even the Linux version is capable of replacing a professional bench-top scope.

    USB connectivity

    USB Connectivity

A USB connection makes printing, copying, saving, and emailing data from the field fast and easy. The high-speed USB2.0 interface gives fast data transfer, while USB power for the device removes the need to carry around a bulky external power supply. .

    Fast sampling

The PicoScope 2204A oscilloscope provides fast real-time sampling rates up to 100MSa/s. For repetitive signals, equivalent-time sampling (ETS) mode can boost the maximum effective sampling rate up to 1GS/s, allowing even finer resolution. It also supports configurable-length pre-trigger and post-trigger capture.

    Arbitrary waveform and function generators

    Arbitrary waveform and function generators

The PicoScope 2204A oscilloscope also has a built-in arbitrary waveform generator (AWG). Waveforms can be imported to the AWG from the oscilloscope, or external data files can be created and modified using the built-in graphical AWG editor. A function generator is also included, with sine, square, triangle, DC level and many more standard waveforms. As well as level, offset and frequency controls, advanced options allow you to sweep over a range of frequencies. Combined with the spectrum peak hold option, this creates a powerful tool for testing amplifier and filter responses.

    Advanced digital triggers

    Advanced digital triggers

As well as the standard range of triggers found on most oscilloscopes, the PicoScope 2200A Series offers one of the best selections of advanced triggers available. These include pulse width, windowed and dropout triggers to help you find and capture your signal quickly.

Most digital oscilloscopes still use an analog trigger architecture based on comparators. This can cause time and amplitude errors that cannot always be calibrated out. The use of comparators often limits the trigger sensitivity at high bandwidths and can also create a long trigger re-arm delay.

For over 20 years Pico have been pioneering the use of full digital triggering using the actual digitized data. This reduces trigger errors and allows our oscilloscopes to trigger on the smallest signals, even at the full bandwidth. All triggering is digital, resulting in high threshold resolution with programmable hysteresis and optimal waveform stability.

On selected models, the reduced re-arm delay provided by digital triggering, together with segmented memory, allows the capture of events that happen in rapid sequence. At the fastest timebase, rapid triggering can capture a new waveform every 2 microseconds until the buffer is full. The mask limit testing function helps to detect waveforms that fail to meet your specifications.

    High signal integrity

    High signal integrity

Most oscilloscopes are built down to a price. PicoScopes are built up to a  specification. Careful front-end design and shielding reduces noise, crosstalk and harmonic distortion. Decades of oscilloscope design experience can be seen in improved pulse response and bandwidth flatness. We are proud of the dynamic performance of our products and publish these specifications in detail. The result is simple: when you probe a circuit, you can trust in the waveform you see on the screen.

    High-end features as standard

Buying a PicoScope is not like making a purchase from other oscilloscope companies, where optional extras considerably increase the price. With our scopes, high-end features such as resolution enhancement, mask limit testing, serial decoding, advanced triggering, automatic measurements, math channels, XY mode, segmented memory (where available), and a signal generator are all included in the price.

To protect your investment, both the PC software and firmware inside the scope can be updated. Pico Technology have a long history of providing new features for free through software downloads. We deliver on our promises of future enhancements year after year, unlike many other companies in the field. Users of our products reward us by becoming lifelong customers and frequently recommending us to their colleagues.
