The PicoScope 4823 is the world’s first high-speed, high-resolution, 8-channel automotive oscilloscope, which is fast enough for CAN, CAN FD, and FlexRay serial data decoding. It features a common-ground configuration, a maximum input range of 50V (protected to 100V), and a maximum sample rate of 80MS/s (10MS/s if using all 8 channels). It is pre-configured for compatible automotive probes and includes more than 150 Guided tests, plus access to thousands of comparisons in the Pico waveform library which now supports 8 channels. The 4823 scope features protection fuses on each of the eight inputs. The PicoScope 4823 is available as the oscilloscope alone or in the Pico PQ184 Professional Diagnostic Kit, which also includes 2000A, 30A and 60A current clamps, secondary ignition leads, coil-on-plug probe, a full set of fuse extension leads, eight test leads and a comprehensive set of adaptors.
With 12-bit resolution, a 20 MHz bandwidth, and 256MSa buffer memory, the 4823’s SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface connects rapidly with a PC running Pico Technology’s versatile PicoScope 7 Automotive software.
Why is an 8-channel scope needed for automotive work? It allows for the simultaneous measurement of multiple signals, which is essential for complex systems like V6/V8 cam timing and VVT timing systems. The automotive PicoScope 4823 can handle a wide range of vehicle diagnostic needs, including electrical and hydraulic measurements on multiple valves; trucks, construction and agricultural equipment often need to monitor a mix of electrical and hydraulic measurements on multiple valves simultaneously to diagnose system problems.
This high-performance scope, like other PicoScopes, is trusted by master techs, diagnostic educators, and large-scale maintenance operations around the globe. With eight independent channels, it streamlines multi-sensor testing and whole-vehicle diagnostics in real time.
